I WANT TO MAKE A GENERAL POWER OF ATTORNEY A General Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows a person to appoint somebody to make decisions generally about all of their financial affairs or  just for certain specific matters.

WHAT FORMS ARE NEEDED TO REGISTER A LASTING POWER OF ATTORNEY When making a Lasting Power of Attorney, there are some forms that need to be filled out correctly in order for the Power of Attorney to be valid.

WHAT IS A PROPERTY AND AFFAIRS POWER OF ATTORNEY? A Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney enables a person (called the Donor) to appoint another person (called the Attorney) to deal with matters and make decisions relating to their financial affairs and property.

WHAT IS A HEALTH AND WELFARE POWER OF ATTORNEY? A Health and Welfare LPA enables a person (called the Donor) to appoint another person (called the Attorney) to deal with matters and make decisions relating to the Donors health and personal welfare.

WHAT IS AN ENDURING POWER OF ATTORNEY? An Enduring Power of Attorney can no longer be made. They are an earlier version of a Lasting Power of Attorney. From 1st October 2007 Enduring Power of Attorney were replaced with Lasting Power of Attorney.

APPLYING TO REGISTER AN ENDURING POWER OF ATTORNEY Sadly Enduring Power of Attorney cannot be made anymore. However, Enduring Power of Attorney that were created prior to 1st October 2007 are still legally valid.

HOW TO OBJECT TO A POWER OF ATTORNEY When someone applies for a Power of Attorney to be registered, there may be objections to them being given responsibility for someone else’s affairs.

REVOKING AND CANCELLING A POWER OF ATTORNEY A Donor can revoke and cancel their Power of Attorney at any time, so long as they have the mental capacity to do so and provided that the Power of Attorney has not yet been registered.

WHAT IS A LIVING WILL? A Living Will is a document that enables a person to state in advance that in certain circumstances  they would not wish to receive certain specified medical treatments.
